The Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) is a diet that is a great tool to help with digestive issues like SIBO or IBS, as it removes the fermentable carbohydrates that create the bloating, indigestion, nausea, and etc. What’s so great about these popsicles is they incorporate fruits that are normally on hand and can be stored in the freezer like pineapple, banana, and strawberry. Pineapple in particular has an enzyme, Bromelain, which aids in digestion. Be sure to use fresh/frozen pineapple and not canned (which is cooked and therefore, denatured). These are dairy free as well, for anyone who is lactose intolerant or sensitive! Use these pops in lieu of your nightly scoop of ice cream as a refreshing and delicious dessert.
Recipe 1:
- ½ cup fresh or frozen pineapple
- ¼ cup orange juice
- 1 inch peeled fresh ginger
- Mint leaves to preference
The mint and ginger are also helpful for symptoms such as nausea, bloating, and indigestion.
Recipe 2:
- ½ cup strawberries
- ½ banana
- ¼ cup almond milk
In a blender combine all ingredients and blend fully. Pour into prepped popsicle molds. Freeze over night and enjoy! Any extra can be eaten like a smoothie.
